The Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the arrest of New Mexico Resident Jamison Wagner for the recent attacks against a Tesla dealership and the New Mexico Republican Party’s (RPNM) headquarters.

Wagner is accused of having perpetrated an arson attack on Tesla’s Albuquerque showroom last February 9th, 2025.

Additionally, the DOJ claims Wagner is also responsible for a similar arson attack against the RPNM headquarters on March 30, 2025.

Wagner was identified as the likely culprit after investigators unearthed evidence of his vehicle, a White Hyundai, at both locations.

In the attacks, Wagner caused significant damage by using homemade explosive devices.

Wagner also graffitied political messages critical of Elon Musk and of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Attorney General Pam Bondi congratulated law enforcement for seizing Wagner and warned others against considering or partaking in copycat attacks.

“Let this be the final lesson to those taking part in this ongoing wave of political violence,” said Attorney General Bondi. “We will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we will not negotiate. Crimes have consequences.”

Tesla has recently suffered a wave of politically motivated attacks against its showrooms and charging stations from individuals dissatisfied with Elon Musk’s involvement in the Trump administration.

The federal government has responded by prosecuting those involved to deter future attacks and obtain accountability for the perpetrators of the attacks

In parallel with the DOJ’s prosecutorial efforts, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced the creation of a task force focused on investigating attacks against Tesla facilities.

Director Patel claimed Wagner’s arrest was a result of the FBI’s Tesla taskforce’s work.

“This arrest is part of the FBI’s aggressive efforts to investigate and hold accountable those who have targeted Tesla facilities in various states across the country,” said FBI Director Patel. “Under Attorney General Bondi’s leadership, we will continue to locate and arrest those responsible for these acts of domestic terrorism, and the FBI will work with partners at the Department of Justice to ensure such lawbreakers face justice.”
