WASHINGTON— Gubernatorial candidate Rep. Byron Donalds told The Floridian that if elected governor of Florida, he would look into reopening the past investigation into Jeffrey Epstein “if crimes were committed against people in Florida.”
Rep. Donalds made the remark to The Floridian after Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R) said that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could “look into the Jeffrey Epstein charges and investigation and reopen all that.”
“I would say, DeSantis could right now look into the Jeffrey Epstein charges and investigation and reopen all that, so I think that he should go for that,” said Rep. Luna.
Shortly after first saying that he would look to reopen the Epstein case, Donalds reiterated that he would look into Epstein if a crime was committed.
In early 2024, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a new law mandating that the grand jury testimony of dead pedophiles be publicly available, including Epstein.
“The public deserves to know who participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking,” DeSantis said at a signing ceremony for the law in Palm Beach on Thursday morning. DeSantis was joined by two victims of the now-deceased millionaire.
“Nobody should be protected from facing justice due to their wealth or status, and those who harm children should be exposed and punished to the fullest extent of the law,” he added
