The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released the full unedited transcript and footage of CBS’ 60 Minutes interview to former Vice President Kamala Harris last October.
After reviewing the transcript, it is clear that CBS heavily edited Vice President Harris’ answers several times throughout the interview.
The edits are at the center of a legal dispute in which President Donald Trump is claiming CBS engaged in election interference and deceptive practices by editing what was supposed to be raw, uncut footage to improve Harris’ image.
President Trump is suing CBS in Texas for allegedly violating the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, a Texas law that prohibits "false, misleading, or deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any trade or commerce."
Trump is also claiming $10 Billion in damages.
CBS has reportedly considered settling the suit as it attempts to shed the negative publicity their lawsuit with Trump is causing.
Trump claimed the recently released unedited footage demonstrate CBS’ wrongdoing.
“CBS and 60 Minutes defrauded the public by doing something which has never, to this extent, been seen before,” said Trump. “They 100% removed Kamala’s horrible election changing answers to questions, and replaced them with completely different, and far better, answers, taken from another part of the interview.”
CBS has rejected Trump’s claims, stating the footage demonstrates how “the 60 Minutes broadcast was not doctored or deceitful.”
“This was Election changing “stuff,” Election Interference and, quite simply, Election Fraud at a level never seen before,” Trump continued. “CBS should lose its license, and the cheaters at 60 Minutes should all be thrown out.”
“The people will have a chance to weigh in,” said Chairman Carr as he announced the public comment regarding the news distortion claims which, if the FCC finds are truthful, could lead to action against CBS.
