WASHINGTON—During his Senate confirmation hearing to become the next Secretary of State in the incoming Trump administration, Senator Marco Rubio outlined the growing threat to the American way of life that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) poses to the United States and the rest of the Western World.
Sen. Rubio’s foreign policy knowledge and bona fides are beyond reproach, so when he sounds the alarm against China’s targeting of the U.S. economy and explains how dependent the nation has become on Chinese products, Americans need to listen.
Because the U.S. is so dependent on cheap Chinese labor products, Sen. Rubio believes that Americans will be 100% dependent on China very soon.
"If we stay on the road we are on right now - in less than 10 years, virtually everything that matters to us in life will depend on whether China allows us to have it or not,” said Sen. Rubio. "Everything from blood pressure medicine to what movies we get to watch, and everything in between. They dominate the critical mineral industry.”
Rubio continued:
“Even those who want more EVs - those batteries depend on China." "If we don't change course - we will live in a world where much of what matters on a daily basis, from our security to our health - will be dependent on whether the Chinese allow us to have it or not."
Now, China is targeting American agriculture.
Yes, there is a quiet cold war being waged against the American farmer by the Chinese government.
Not only is China building the biggest military in the world and positioning itself around the world as the alternative to the U.S., the Chinese are directly and indirectly challenging American food security to preserve theirs.
Seeds
China has recently approved more genetically modified (GM) crops to be produce to assist in ensuring its food security.
While China is producing its own seeds, it’s not buying U.S.-manufactured seeds and is not importing American crops that were grown from those GM seeds.
Other American lawmakers like Florida Senator Rick Scott, have echoed Sen. Rubio’s concerns about China.
In a recent interview with The Floridian, Sen. Scott spoke about the the predatory practices of the Chinese government, including concerns about the theft of genetically modified seeds to improve crops and their refusal to buy seed-generated produce from Florida.
“If we can’t sell our products in China, why are we letting them sell their products here? It doesn’t make any sense. On top of that, when they steal our technology, we’ve got to hold them accountable. They shouldn’t have most favored nation treatment anymore. They lie. Everything the Chinese government does is a lie. Everything is a lie,” said Sen. Scott.
During his first term in office, President Trump vowed to “Make America Great Again” by putting forth an America First agenda. On the eve of entering his second term, President Trump has signaled that his main priority continues to be putting American exceptionalism and ingenuity first.
Will President Trump “Make Farming Great Again?”
Americans farmers are counting on it.
