Congress convened to certify President-elect Donald Trump's (R) 2024 win. January 6th also marks the fourth anniversary of the attack on the Capitol, a polarizing topic in the political world.  Jimmy Patronis (R) has now endorsed launching a committee to investigate the January 6th committee, which sought to impeach the president-elect.

On the eve of January 6th, Patronis, who's seeking former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R) seat, announced that he would work with Congress to establish a committee to investigate Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R), Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R), and the rest of the January 6th committee.

The committee, composed of a bipartisan group of lawmakers, accused President-elect Trump of inciting an insurrection in the Capitol after his 2020 election loss.

On social media, he called the January 6th committee "a partisan stunt against President Trump and MAGA Republicans." "We must ensure this abuse of taxpayer dollars never happens again," he warned.

In a statement, he argued that the committee "was a giant infomercial for the Left to give legacy media something to cover." "It wasn't objective, it wasn't bipartisan, and it was led by Anti-Trumpers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger who were both ran out of Congress."

"Representative Jim Jordan did amazing work with the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government - and seeing as Liz Cheney was having ex-parte communications, we need to see what laws were violated and hold those accountable," he added.

Recently, President Joe Biden (D) award the January 6th committee with the Presidential Citizens Medal. The honor drew criticism from Republicans like Congressman Byron Donalds (R), who commented that he was "highly offended" at the president's gesture.

The president-elect has endorsed Patronis in his bid for Florida's House District 1, a seat previously held by Rep. Gaetz. The special election to replace Rep. Gaetz will take place on January 28th, 2025.
