First Son Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to all nine federal tax charges on Thursday, surprising many. However, Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said during a recent appearance on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures that this would not let the First Family off the hook for their supposed influence-peddling schemes, and legislation should be introduced to prevent their alleged crimes from happening again.

The Wall Street Journal provided details of Hunter's tax evasion, where he allegedly listed false tax deductions as write-offs for sex workers and club memberships, which were notably made after he had recovered from his crack-cocaine addiction.

"Like millions of Americans, I failed to file and pay my taxes on time. For that, I am responsible. As I have stated, addiction is not an excuse, but it is an explanation for some of my failures at issue in this case," said the younger Biden.

Additionally, the Journal suggested the prosecution sought to dig deeper into the alleged influence-peddling of the Biden family through Hunter, citing his time on the Burisma board of directors, CEFC ties, and a deal with a Romanian real estate magnate facing corruption investigations during President Biden's time as Vice President under Barack Obama.

"Look, this is something we have known all along, and the prosecutors have really shown the American people that this was not partisan. He was indeed guilty," said Rep. Luna.

However, she stipulated that "just because he is pleading guilty does not mean that our job stops. Ultimately, this whole thing was that Hunter Biden was really the keystone in regards to the influence-peddling that was really benefitting the now-sitting President Joe Biden, and so I do believe that our delegation and our committee needs to actually put forward legislation to stop influence-peddling at this magnitude."

"I mean, it was egregious what has happened, and honestly, so much media went to defend Hunter Biden. He was guilty all along," Luna concluded.

In June, Hunter was ruled guilty of lying about his sobriety while purchasing a firearm, which the Trump campaign said was a "distraction" meant to draw attention away from the alleged crimes of the broader "Biden Crime Family."
