Florida Republican congressional incumbents won in yesterday's Republican primary election.
In the Senate, Florida’s sitting senator, Rick Scott (R-FL), defeated two Republican challengers before facing off against Democrat nominee Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (DMP).
The Floridian’s Jackson Bakich reported that the latest polls had granted Senator Scott a ten-point lead over DMP.
Sen. Scott ultimately won by an overwhelming lead, amassing over 80% of the votes.
The poll also surveyed President Donald Trump’s contest vs Vice President Kamala Harris.
In the poll, Sen. Scott leads former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL) by a lead of 52-42% while President Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris (D) by a lead of 53-46%.
Meanwhile, US Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) defeated Aaron Dimmock to retain his seat in the US House of Representatives.
Representative Gaetz, an avid Trump supporter best known for his fiery Congress speeches and confrontational congressional hearings, cruised to victory over Dimmock.
Rep. Gaetz raised over $5 million for his campaign, a number far above Dimmock’s nearly $400,000, as of late July,
Dimmock, however, campaigned extensively throughout Gaetz’s district, relying on his previous military service to win over Gaetz’s supporters.
More recently, Dimmock criticized Gaetz for his connections to sex trafficking convicts after the latter accused the former of planning to cooperate with allegedly corrupt lawmakers.
“Matt -- who are your associates again?” asked Dimmock in reply to an accusatory post by Gaetz.
