Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has won her reelection bid, defeating several GOP candidates. Mayor Levine Cava secured another four year term after winning over 58% of the vote Tuesday evening.
Mayo Levine Cava needed 50% of the vote to avoid a November runoff with the second-place finisher, and she was able to cross 58% of the vote after Miami-Dade County's 755 precincts had voted. Taking part in a seven-person election, the first-term mayor will now serve another term in office.
Shortly after winning the election, Mayor Levine Cava spoke to voters, thanking her supporters (which included Republicans and Independents according to a report from the Miami Herald), and assuring that she is "committed to working tirelessly for our community, ensuing your voices are heard and your needs are met." "Together, we'll continue to make a positive impact on Miami-Dade County."
For months, Mayor Levine Cava faced scrutiny from the other challengers, which included Republican social media influencer Alex Otaola (of Cubanos Del Munro Fame), who vowed to fight any communism in Miami-Dade County.
When it was all said and done, Mayor Levine Cava had secured the win shortly before 10:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, and the reelected mayor celebrated with supporters at a victory party held at Miami's Ball and Chain Cuban restaurant.
"What I see on the streets is that people know me. And they trust me. They know how much I care," she said before addressing reporters. "I hoped that would translate into people coming out."
