The 2024 political funny season is upon us, and like past election cycles, questionable candidates for elected office will do anything to garner support and votes, even converting from a tried and true Progressive Democrat, to a Conservative Republican simply to challenge a moderate Democrat like State Senator Jason Pizzo.
Enter Imtiaz “Andy” Mohammad.
Mohammed, who in the past ran for a city commission seat, a state house seat, a U.S. congressional seat as a Bernie Sanders and “Squad” supporting Democrat, is now running as a Republican against centrist Sen. Pizzo.
It’s hard not to chuckle at the apparent ideological and political transformation Mohammad has undergone.
According to his Facebook campaign page, Mohammad is promoting the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), which could make the average voter believe that he may be supported by the state GOP, or is somehow affiliated with the group.
The Floridian has reached out to Chairman Evan Power for comment but he could not be reached.
We decided to take a deep dive into Mohammad’s political career and realized that our efforts would be limited to a political kiddie pool.
At a glance we stumbled upon a 2019 video of Mohammad taking a dig at his fellow Americans, saying that the country as a whole was a hateful nation.
“People say in America, ‘America runs on Dunkin Donuts. America run(sic) on hate, that is my statement. We run this country on hate. Media is the biggest problem in this country, and American people are the most uneducated nation in the world,” said Mohammad
Meet Pakistani-American @AndyImtiaz Mohammed. He's running for a seat in ths Forida House of Representatives in 2020 and this is what he has to say about USA:

uneducated nation in the world." pic.twitter.com/ttpRZDgOZe— Tarek Fatah (@TarekFatah) April 21, 2019
During his run for Congress as a Democrat in 2020, Mohammad expressed his unwavering support for congressional Democratic Socialists Sen. Bernie Sanders and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib,Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Presley.
"I'm with them," was stated on the faces of the House "Squad" that Mohammad posted.
Here is Mohammad pictured with Rep. Omar.
Is Mohammad, who has not filed a financial statement, doing his best Charlie Crist political impression by switching political parties in order to have a better chance of winning an election?
Is Mohammad really a Democrat in Republican clothing?
Is the RPOF supportive of Mohammad’s state senatorial candidacy?
