This weekend marks the latest escalation in the war between Iran and Israel. Iran issued a drone strike on Saturday, and Israel is expected to respond soon. However, Israel's allies are now preparing to take action. Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) is calling on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) to take action by allowing a vote on the House-passed Israel aid bill.

Earlier this week, Senator Scott penned an op-ed for Fox News, highlighting the need for the United States to support Israel amidst its ongoing war with Hamas. In the op-ed, Senator Scott recounted his recent visit to Israel. As well, Senator Scott called on President Joe Biden (D) to hold Qatar accountable in its hostage negotiations role. "Why is Qatar allowing the leaders of Hamas to live in luxury and under protection in Doha while American citizens remain tortured in the captivity of terrorists?" he asked.

With Iran directing a drone attack to Israel, Senator Scott is now urging Senate Majority Leader Schumer to put the House-passed Israel aid bill, titled the Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Act, on the Senate floor for a vote when the Senate returns on Monday.

Senator Scott released a statement on the issue, warning that "Israel is once again under attack and the United States must clearly and strongly stand with our great ally and fully support its right and obligation to defend itself by any means necessary."

He took issue with Democrats blocking the passage of sending aid to Israel, noting that "the House has passed a good bill that is ready for Senate passage right now."

Denouncing "the evil, terror-supporting regime in Iran," Senator Scott also denounced the Biden administration for having "emboldened Iran with appeasement, freeing billions of dollars to fuel Iran's support of terrorism and turning its back on Israel."
