President Joe Biden recently announced an initiative to erase student loan debt, which is already facing opposition from Republicans. Florida Attorney General (AG) Ashley Moody has joined a coalition of five other state Attorneys General to fight the initiative, saying, "We will fight in court to make sure that hard-working Americans, who are struggling to buy groceries thanks to Biden, are not on the hook for other people’s debt."

CNN described the Biden Administration's proposed plan, dubbed the "Saving on a Valuable Education" system, which would lower monthly payments for lower-income college students and shorten their pathway to loan forgiveness.

However, AG Moody countered in her press release that "in reality [it] will cost Americans $475 billion—$45 billion more than its last unlawful student loan plan."

Additionally, she did not mince words in accusing Biden of shrugging off Supreme Court rulings he does not like. In June, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against a previous attempt by the Biden Administration to forgive millions in student loans, saying it was unconstitutional.

"Last year, the Supreme Court struck down Biden’s illegal attempt to force Americans to pay off someone else’s debt. Now, Biden thumbs his nose at the court like he has done with so many issues, including immigration, and does what he wants, trying again to mass-cancel student debt. We will fight in court to make sure that hard-working Americans, who are struggling to buy groceries thanks to Biden, are not on the hook for other people’s debt," said AG Moody.

Moreover, the suit presented by Moody and the Attorneys General of Arkansas, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, and Oklahoma, suggested President Biden is "unilaterally trying to impose an extraordinarily expensive and controversial policy that he could not get through Congress," and is the "latest attempt to sidestep the Constitution is only the most recent instance in a long but troubling pattern of the President relying on innocuous language from decades-old statutes to impose drastic, costly policy changes on the American people without their consent."
