Gimenez Denounces Russia for Havana Syndrome Attacks

Share

Tension between the United States and Russia continues to escalate as a new report links "Havana Syndrome" attacks to a Russian intelligence unit. Although Moscow has denied the accusation, Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) is calling on President Joe Biden (D) to address the "Havana Syndrome" Attacks.

A new report conducted by The Insider, Der Spiegel, and CBS' 60 Minutes has concluded that individuals who are suffering from "Havana Syndrome" might have been targeted by Russian sonic weaponry. Individuals that suffer from the syndrome worked for the White House, CIA, and the FBI, and they report feelings of dizziness, headaches, and a pain in their ears as well as issues with concentrating.

In light of the report, Rep. Gimenez is commenting on the attacks, urging the president to take a more proactive response to the issue.

During an interview with FOX News' Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Gimenez explained that "The Russians targeted our embassy and the Canadian embassy and affected hundreds of our diplomats in Cuba, giving them some pretty debilitating brain injuries where they can't hear." He explained one of the side effects, describing that "if somebody is suffering from Havana syndrome, usually, you and I, when we put a finger in front of our face, we can see two fingers, somebody that suffers from the syndrome can only see one."

"That's just one of the symptoms that they have, and so, the evidence is growing that the Russians are behind it, and obviously they can do whatever they want in Cuba since that's their big ally. It's a big, serious problem. It's happening not just in Cuba but around the world."

On social media, he expanded on his concerns, expressing that "as the only Cuban-born Member of Congress & the US Representative for the Cuban-American community, I'm calling on President Biden to hold the dictatorship in Cuba accountable for collaborating with Russia to actively target & kill the US officials."
