Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) has introduced legislation known as the No Funds for Gaza Act which would “prevent the [Biden] Administration from building in, or spending U.S. taxpayer dollars to rebuild, the Gaza Strip.”
This comes after the Biden administration announced that it will task the U.S. military to build an “emergency” naval port in the Gaza Strip to help facilitate humanitarian aid to Gazans as the war between Hamas and Israel continues. The Florida congressman believes this project will “undoubtedly benefit Hamas.”
The administration contends that U.S. troops will not be on the ground while aid is brought in, but will work “just offshore.”
Rep. Mast was injured during combat operations in Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Army and who volunteered in the IDF after leaving the military, says that the Biden administration wants to wholly rebuild Gaza.
“It’s not just this that was predictable, but that the Biden ministration wants to use American tax dollars to totally rebuild Gaza. It’s why I wrote a bill months ago to say no US tax dollar shall go to building new infrastructure or the rebuilding of old infrastructure in Gaza,” said Rep. Mast in a statement to The Floridian following the announcement.
Regarding Rep. Mast’s bill, the Florida congressman said President Joe Biden (D) is more concerned with helping America’s adversaries than helping the Jewish people.
“Not a penny of American tax dollars should rebuild terrorist infrastructure in Gaza,” said Rep. Mast. “Since the October 7 attack, Joe Biden has made it clear that he is more interested in appeasing far-left, pro-Hamas activists than siding with the Jewish people and our vital ally, Israel. For Hamas, the only hope of survival is Joe Biden.”
Rep. Mast mentioned the findings of Richard Kozul-Wright, a United Nations Official, who estimates the Gaza project will cost $20 billion to the American taxpayer.
“To this day, there is no official account of exactly how many American hostages are still held by Hamas, which operates a complex tunnel network spanning between 350 and 450 miles under essential buildings like hospitals, schools and mosques in Gaza,” said Rep. Mast's press release. “In February 2024, the Israeli Defense Forces announced they discovered a Hamas data center located directly below the Gaza Strip headquarters of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Any new infrastructure constructed by the American government will undoubtedly primarily benefit this terrorism network."
