WASHINGTON—The Biden administration has announced that it will task the U.S. military to build an “emergency” naval port in the Gaza Strip to help facilitate humanitarian aid to Gazans as the war between Hamas and Israel continues.

The administration contends that U.S. troops will not be on the ground while aid is brought in, but will work “just offshore.”

President Joe Biden is expected to make the formal announcement during his State of the Union address.

Upon hearing of the naval port being built in Gaza, members of the Republican Congressional delegation were taken back by the administration’s decision to directly aid the Hamas-led government in Gaza over Israel.

“What?! Are you serious?” asked former Naval fighter pilot Rep. Jake Ellzey, in response to Texas Politics’ request for comment.

Rep. Brian Mast

Florida Rep. Brian Mast, who was injured during combat operations in Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Army and who volunteered in the IDF after leaving the military, says that the Biden administration wants to wholly rebuild Gaza.

It’s not just this that was predictable, but that the Biden ministration wants to use American tax dollars to totally rebuild Gaza. It’s why I wrote a bill months ago to say no US tax dollar shall go to building new infrastructure or the rebuilding of old infrastructure in Gaza,” said Rep. Mast in a statement to The Floridian.

Rep. Michael Waltz, a former Army Green Beret, responded to the news that Biden would formally call on the military to build the “temporary” port in Gaza.

“So we’re back to trusting the Taliban with protecting the airport again,” stated Rep. Waltz.
