Florida GOP to Boot Chairman Ziegler Today, Vote in Vice Chairman Power

The day has finally come when the Republican Party of Florida will vote to officially oust Chairman Christian Ziegler after he was accused of rape.

Gov. Ron DeSantis and a slew of other Republican lawmakers have all backed Vice Chairman Evan Power's candidacy to fill the soon-to-be vacant position.

Power narrowly lost to Ziegler in early 2023, but now it appears as if Power will coast along and win the chairmanship.

All Eyes Are on DeSantis With 7 Days Before Iowa Caucus

Florida's 2024 Legislative Session begins tomorrow and Gov. Ron DeSantis will be delivering his yearly State of the State address before the Republican-led state legislature.

Yeah, and?

Lawmakers, political pundits, and media types around the country are only concerned about how well or bad Gov. DeSantis will do after Iowans cast their presidential preference votes next Monday night.

The polls are polls, but even though it looks as if DeSantis is going to lose Iowa, historically, American politics have shown us that anything can happen in a highly contested presidential primary election.

DeSantis has an impressive ground game in Iowa and has tens of thousands of committed supporters, but so does Trump.

With all that said, DeSantis has gone scorched earth against Trump, and has even knocked the former president for supporting controversial immigration reform legislation he supported.

Both DeSantis and Trump supported a bill that welcomed DACA amnesty back in 2018.

In addition, both Trump and DeSantis support cutting of humanitarian aid to the Hamas-supporting Palestinians in both the Gaza Strip and The West Bank.

Trump cut the aid while president and now DeSantis says that he would as well if he sat in The White House.
