Scott and Rubio Join Congressional Efforts to Punish Iran for Nuclear Agreement Violations

Share

Washington, D.C.- Following Iran-backed Hamas’ appalling terrorist attacks on Israel late last week, Florida Senators Marco Rubio(R) and Rick Scott(R) are seeking to hold Iran accountable.

The two led a Republican group of senators in writing a letter to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

In the letter, the Senators allege President Joe Biden’s administration has failed to respond to Iran’s international law violations.

Namely, the letter addresses Iran’s “failure to comply” with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The letter claims evidence gathered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) suggests Iran has consistently violated their promise to refrain from enriching uranium to weapons grade.

Republicans want “an update on U.S. action to hold the Iranian regime accountable for multiple violations,” explained Rubio.

Pressure has been mounting on Congress to enact new sanctions against Iran, given reports of their direct involvement in orchestrating Hamas’ brutal attacks on Israel.

Legislation, such as Representative Brian Mast’s (R) Hamas International Financing Prevention Act, have responded to public demand for imposing sanctions on any entity funding Hamas,

Meanwhile, congressional infighting has Democrats and Republicans shifting blame towards each other for the lag in authorizing additional military aid to Israel.

It is unclear where the Israel-Hamas conflict is heading, but as Israel reportedly gears up for a potential land-invasion, America's involvement in the conflict is expected to expand.
