California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) is going to bat for the Biden administration. During an interview with CNN, Newsom praised President Joe Biden (D), arguing that voters should support the Biden-Harris ticket. Newsom expressed that the Biden administration has been nothing but “a masterclass in terms of performance.”

The praise comes during a time with the president is facing mounting controversy over Hunter Biden’s alleged business dealings. This has subsequently led to House Republicans pursuing an impeachment inquiry.

Newsom, who’s been viewed as a potential presidential candidate, is once again disregarding those comments and instead directing focus to the Biden administration.

Invoking Robert F. Kennedy, Sr. (D), Newsom commented that “the world needs the qualities of youth. Not a time of life but a state of mind” in response to President Biden’s age.

When asked if the president should be commenting on the Hunter Biden proceedings, Newsom suggested that the president should withhold from commenting. This, he says, would prevent him from meddling with the Justice Department, which is something Newsom felt President Donald Trump (R) was doing during his time in office.

Newsom also responded to comments former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) shared regarding Vice President Kamala Harris (R). Harris has been viewed as a possible successor to Biden, but Democrats like Pelosi have suggested that she is not the strongest candidate for Vice President. Newsom shuts down the criticism, arguing that the Biden-Harris ticket is “a masterclass in terms of performance.”

Newsom has attempted to quiet down rumors that he’s launching a presidential run. On the campaign trail, Newsom has been embroiled in a rivalry with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

Last month, tension reached a turning point when both governors entertained the idea of debating each other, but ultimately both could not reach an agreement and the conversation surrounding the debate has gone silent.
