Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) made an appearance on Fox News and released a statement concerning President Joe Biden (D) and his administration’s plan to regulate water heaters and gas generators in hopes of reducing carbon emissions.

The move to replace water heaters is a decision that Rep. Mills believes should be made by the consumer, not the federal government.

Congressman Mills believes this is government overreach at play.

“Well, absolutely we’re overregulated. I mean, think about it: The upfront cost alone in comparison to your long-term savings isn’t a decision that should be made by the federal government, it’s a decision that should be made by the private citizen. These actual water heaters which essentially draw from the heat from outside, which not only take longer to heat up the actual water but in northern climates, would actually be a little bit less efficient,” stated Mills.

He would go on to mention that the Biden administration has made this type of overreach a pattern.

“And again, this is just more of the federal government continuing to overreach into American lives. You, first it was your gas stove, then it’s your air conditioner, then it’s the idea of your water heater. I mean, it just continues on and on,” said Rep. Mills.

Moreover, the Florida Congressman offered his thoughts regarding the Biden administration’s proposal to crack down on portable gas generators, especially concerning the wide amount of Floridians that use generators during hurricane season.

“Gasoline generators play a crucial role in American’s security and safety, particularly for Floridians who face frequent hurricanes and power outages. The Biden administration’s proposal to ban almost all portable gas generators would be disastrous for millions of Americans who heavily rely on these generators during emergencies,” shared Mills.

He concluded, “Investing in a generator becomes crucial for those who need uninterrupted power for medical equipment, well pumps, remote work, and maintaining comfort during extreme weather. Being prepared and secure with a reliable generator safeguards your family’s comfort and safety during uncertain times.”

In addition to representing Florida’s Seventh District, Rep. Mills sits on the House Armed Services Committee as well as the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
