US Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) are leading legislation filed by a group of Senate Republicans overturning President Joe Biden’s recent pause on US-Israel weapons deliveries.

The Israel Security Assistance Support Act would force President Biden send Israel weapons he recently claimed would not be delivered if Israel executed a ground invasion of Rafah.

Additionally, the bill would cancel the salaries of any officials at the Department of Defense or Department of State who take any action to withhold the delivery of weapons to Israel.

Over a dozen Republican Senators cosponsored the bill, which is spearheaded in the House of Representatives by Congressman Ken Calvert (R-CA).

Biden, who recently approved processing $1 billion in weapons sales to Israel, has faced criticism for being both too soft and too harsh on the Jewish state from Democrats and Republicans, respectively.

“Everyone knows that Biden is controlled by anti-Israel radicals and we can’t take the risk of more political games when our ally, Israel, is fighting for its life,” said Senator Scott. “Congress must step in to stop Biden from undermining America's national security once again.”

In 2024 alone, the US has appropriated over $12 Billion in security assistance and missile defense for Israel.

However, Biden’s announced ‘pause’ on certain bombs jeopardizes the materialization of such appropriations.

Biden justified such pause by pointing to the high number of civilian casualties in the wake of Israel’s Gaza operations.

Nonetheless, conservatives have criticized Biden for demonstrating gaps vis-à-vis US-Israel relations.

Last week, the United Nations significantly reduced its estimated Gaza civilian casualties, which it had been sourcing from Hamas’ Gaza health ministry.

Israel is expected to execute a wide scale round operation into Rafa in the coming days.
