Earlier this week, Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) suggested her colleague Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) should be Trump's Vice President should he win 2024, sparking rumors he is on Trump's shortlist for the position. The Floridian spoke to Rep. Donalds for comment about possibly being on President Trump's shortlist, where he said, "It is actually pretty cool."
"It is actually pretty cool, obviously, because nobody really thinks about Vice President. I think it kind of happens, so that is cool," said Rep. Donalds.
Donalds added he "just wants to win" and that it would be "an honor" to be Trump's VP, but he ultimately "just wants to do [his] job" as a member of Congress.
"I just want to win. I just want to help the country and do everything I can. If [Trump] was like, 'Yeah,' as I said before, I would do it. Who wouldn't? That is like an honor. But I am trying to do my job; I am just a member of Congress; we will see what happens later," Donalds continued.
When asked how the rest of the Donalds family would react to being picked as a vice presidential running mate, Donalds initial reaction would obviously be one of surprise, and the final decision would be made as a family.
"Well, first, they would freak out. They would be like, 'Oh my gosh, is this real?' That would be the first thing. We would figure it out as a family like we always do," Donalds stated.
Finally, we asked him about Trump's potential third indictment by Special Counsel Jack Smith for charges related to January 6th. The Florida Congressman said the indictment would only help Trump further, calling the indictments "BS" and offering further proof that "we have to clean out these agencies."
"His numbers are going to go up. These indictments are BS. And I'm not just saying 'BS' to say 'BS.' It is BS, and everybody knows it. His numbers are going to go up and strengthen as a result, and what it's going to prove to the American people is that we have to clean out these agencies. What's happening with our institutions under Joe Biden is a travesty for our country. And as much as they try to say that Donald Trump was going to destroy institutions, Joe Biden is the one destroying our institutions," Donalds concluded.
