Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) have joined Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and others in scribing a letter to the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Ron Wyden (D-OR), over what they believe to be “unprecedented attacks” against members of the Supreme Court, especially Justice Clarence Thomas.

The Senators also honed in on Sen. Wyden’s letter to Harlan Crow for “requesting tax return information from a private citizen as an attempt to further smear Justice Clarence Thomas and to bully the Supreme Court into acting as ‘a super legislature to implement progressive policies.’”

“We reject this manufactured “ethics crisis” at the Supreme Court as a ploy to further Democrats’ efforts to undermine public confidence and change the makeup of the Court,” the Senators write. “It is clear to us that Democrats are simply enraged that the Court is no longer acting as a super legislature to implement progressive policies. This anger has now manifested itself in baseless ethics smears toward the justices.”

The legislators in the upper chamber added on that Justice Thomas is “an honorable man” that does not deserve the attacks levied against him.

“Justice Thomas is an honorable man, a principled jurist, and one of our nation’s greatest justices, with a personal story that represents the best of America. He has acted honorably and ethically during his time on the Court. But because he refuses to compromise his principles, the left has increasingly sought to discredit him,” the Senators stated.

Both Sen. Scott and Sen. Rubio released a tweet concerning their support of the letter.

“Democrats are doing everything they can to undermine the Supreme Court, all to advance their far-left agenda. We won't stand by and allow these wild attacks on America's institutions,” stated Sen. Scott.

“Signed onto @SenMikeLee's letter defending the Supreme Court from Democrats' various attempts to intimidate Justices. And calling out the harassment of a private citizen being used to attack one of our Justices,” tweeted Sen. Rubio.

The letter concluded with a plea for the end of harassment of Supreme Court Justices.

“These attacks on the Supreme Court and the justices must end. They are undermining the

rule of law, endangering the security of the justices and their families, and inflicting

incalculable damage on our country.”

President Donald Trump (R) was able to appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices in his first and only term, swinging the court back in favor of originalist justices.
