Is Ron DeSantis an Italian-American 'Elitist?'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been called many,  many names since first being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012, including “DeathSantis” and “DeSatan”  and “DeSanctimonious,” just to name a few. This week alone, DeSantis has been called an “elitist” for going to Yale and Harvard Universities, along with being called a “RINO” and a “globalist.”

Obviously, these nicknames have been given to Gov. DeSantis by disgruntled Florida Democrats who have countered his every move as governor, particularly when it came to COVID-19, Parental Rights in Education,  and just about every legislative measure he has signed into law.

Yes, there are a myriad of other names he is called, and now it appears as if some fellow Republicans, namely “OnlyTrumpers” are upset with him considering a presidential run in 2014 against former President Donald Trump.

Not really sure how “Neon Dion” ( I coined that term) DeSantis is any of those names considering that he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had a net worth under $400, 000 just a few years ago.

Actually, DeSantis really does not like to be called an elitist, not even in jest. Believe me.

To most dad’s like DeSantis and me, the only name that matters to us is being called “daddy” by our little whippersnappers.

There is a heavy dose of “daddy” being flung around the Governor’s mansion these days, but two nicknames you haven’t heard Gov. DeSantis being called are “D” or “Jr.”

Gov. DeSantis is a junior.

He was named after his father. Ron Daniel DeSantis.

Outside of being very Italian-American and middle-class, not much is known about Papa DeSantis, capeesh?

Papa DeSantis, who comes off as a Joe Pesci meets Frankie Valli on his past social media posts, refers to his son as simply, “D.”

Some of those past posts are downright funny and politically charged, with a little bada bing here and there.

Could  Ron DeSantis, Sr. be referring to his son’s middle name of Dion?

By referring to him as “D,” It is highly probable that Senior is referring to Junior as Dion and not DeSantis

While it hasn’t been reported anywhere how Ron Jr got his middle name, could it be that his dad named him after American- Italian singer Dion?

According to one Facebook post, Papa DeSantis posted a video of singer Dion singing the son “Ruby Day,” referring to him as, “My hero.”

Was Ron Jr named after Dion DiMucci?

We may never know.

With DeSantis on the verge of announcing his 2024 presidential run, expect his detractors to muster up some more animated and clever nicknames in an attempt to cast dispersions on the rising Republican star.

So, with a dad like his, is DeSantis really an "elitist?"

Oh, fuggedaboutit!
