Over the weekend, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) released a series of video clips announcing efforts Florida would be enacting. Delivered while celebrating the end of the 2023 Legislative Session, DeSantis championed the efforts that range from providing school choice to pushing back against the Communist Chinese Party (CCP). Despite opposition from Trump supporters, DeSantis is touting big wins for the sunshine state.

Amidst growing tension with the CCP, DeSantis announced that Florida would not allow the CCP to purchase any land.

"Florida will not allow the CCP to purchase farmland or land near our critical infrastructure," DeSantis shared on social media, adding that "we do not want the CCP in the Sunshine State."

Under the guidance of President Donald Trump (R), DeSantis' critics have further directed names his way. Trump dubbed him "Ron DeSanctimonious" last year after DeSantis wouldn't affirm if he was not going to run for president later this year. Aside from the name, DeSantis can add more such as being called "Ron Desoros," "Ron DeSatan," and Ron DePLANTis," suggesting that he is a plant from the "deep state."

The Florida Governor has largely disregarded President Trump's criticism, but both find common ground in the CCP as other Republicans have joined them in pushing back.

Most recently, Florida Rep. Brian Mast (R) spoke to the Floridian to discuss the relationship between the United States and China.

“The U.S. is getting shown up, and if we don’t show up to these places… we gotta go in these places and be a part of the conversation because we can and because we do have a say, and we should have a say," Mast shared, suggesting that the United States needs to take on a more prominent role in the global stage.

Lawmakers continue to monitor the CCP as social media sites like TikTok come under fire, being accused as national security threats.
