With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signaling support for SB 254, which would ban gender reassignment surgery and hormone replacement therapy for minors, transgender activists spoke their piece against the bill this week during the  2023 legislative session.

One individual accused the Governor of "genocide"  and "wanting trans people dead" during the hearing, while another speaker says it is "an act of evil."

The second speaker in the video says that State Senator Clay Yarborough "has militarized the Florida GOP into the 'Genital Gestapo.'"

"Senator Yarborough has militarized the Florida GOP into the 'Genital Gestapo.' Ron DeSantis wants trans people dead. You are committing genocide," she says.

A middle-aged woman says she "grew up in Germany in the aftermath of the Nazis" and says this bill is "no different" from the Holocaust, her voice noticeably wavering.

"I grew up in Germany, in the aftermath of the Nazis, and what you people are doing is no different. This is transphobic, it is cruel, and you really should be ashamed."

Finally, a transgender woman called the bill "an act of evil" and said "my people will die," evidently channeling the Holocaust like the previous speaker.

"What you are doing by signing this bill, is an act of evil. The way it is, as it is now, my people will die. And that blood, if you support this bill, will be on your hands," they add.

Senate Bill 254 would make ordering hormones, puberty blockers, or performing gender reassignment surgery for minors a felony.

Additionally, the bill would require transgender adults to provide informed consent before proceeding with hormone replacement therapy or surgery.

Gov. DeSantis has been a vocal opponent of transgender ideology related to children, having filed a complaint against the Miami Hyatt Regency after it hosted an extremely raunchy drag show with minors present in December, and is seeking to suspend its license to serve liquor.
