Donalds: AOC's Defense of Ilhan Omar was Hypocritical and 'High Drama'

Share

Last week, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) gave an impassioned speech on the House floor in defense of Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after Republicans decided to remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee due to a history of anti-Semitic comments.

Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) responded to the Ocasio-Cortez speech while on Newsmax.

If you have not seen AOC’s speech, you can find it below.

In what some might describe as a Gorgias “Encomium of Helen” moment for AOC, the speech was certainly emotive and charged as she attempts to call out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) for mentioning “Jewish space lasers” and “threatening her life,” respectively.

Rep. Donalds pointed out the fact that just last month AOC was having candid conversations with Gosar during the Speakership elections, calling it “high drama.”

“Obviously she didn’t have a problem with Dr. Paul Gosar because during the Speaker’s vote about a month ago, she was caught on Bad Lip Reading, talking to the man. I don’t know about you, but if somebody is threatening my life. I’m not going to go strike up a conversation with them. Somebody should go pull that tape and show it to the American people,” stated Donalds.

Okay, Rep. Donalds. We listened.

He would go on to mention to say that “this was high drama by AOC, ridiculous, because there is no defense for what Ilhan Omar has done and also there are members of the Foreign Affairs Committee who have said that she has caused issues with other leaders around the world because of her comments, which has caused issues for us specifically in the Middle East.”

Helen eventually returned home at the end of Trojan War. However, it does not appear that AOC’s speech will return Rep. Omar to the Foreign Affairs Committee.
