Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) directed choice words at the Chinese government this week during an interview on FOX News. The comments come as Chinese residents take to the streets to protest the Chinese Communist Party.
Sen. Rubio, a vocal critic of Paramount Leader Xi Jinping and the CCP, extended his support to protestors. Slamming the CCP's Zero COVID Policy, Rubio questioned, "if they do that to their own people, what will they do to you?"
Rubio has spoken at length of the threat that China poses to the United States, arguing that they're dangerous to the country's national security. Given the recent uprising against the country's lockdowns and COVID tests, the Florida Republican is now speaking out against the Chinese government's measures to combat COVID.
Taking to social media to share a segment of his interview, Rubio captioned the video by writing that the Chinese people "are protesting in China because human beings don't like being kicked down by governments."
In the interview, Rubio said the world is watching the protests, knowing that "human beings don't like to be locked up. They don't like to be told they can't go out, they can't go to work, they can't socialize, they can't go see family members, they can't go to entertainment and have fun" by a totalitarian government.
"Every country in the world where that's been tried, people have rebelled. Even in a totalitarian state like China, we're seeing that play out," Rubio expressed, adding that "these things are gonna continue, and I think the reaction of the Chinese government should be a wake up call to the world."
Citing that China wants "to be the most powerful country in the world," Rubio questioned, "if they do that to their own people, what will they do to you?"
Rubio joins a growing list of lawmakers that have criticized the Chinese government.
