Rubio Campaign Wants to Stop 'Left's Radical Agenda'

Share

Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) is scheduled to debate Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) this week, and both lawmakers are receiving support from their respective parties. After campaigning with First Lady Jill Biden (D) and Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) last week, the Demings campaign is energized as the midterm election is under a month away. However, the Rubio campaign is pushing back, affirming that it will "put a stop to the far left's radical agenda."

In response to Demings campaigning with First Lady Biden, Elizabeth Gregory, the communications director for the Rubio campaign, said that “Val Demings has not deviated from Joe Biden’s agenda once in the past two years, consistently making Floridians’ lives harder than they were the day before.” Gregory added that “the only way to put a stop to the far left’s radical agenda is to put an end to Democrat-controlled Washington and re-elect Marco Rubio this November.”

A big supporter of Demings is state Senator Annette Taddeo (D), who's vying to unseat Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R). In their race for Florida's 27th congressional district, a recent Cook Report has indicated that the race could favor the challenger in November. Although Florida decidedly voted for President Donald Trump (R) in the 2020 election, the district has favored both Republicans and Democrats in the past.

Taddeo has issued a challenge to debate Salazar, but Salazar has not responded, and this week the congressional hopeful is hosting a watch party to see Demings debate "little Marco."

Similar to Rubio, Salazar has chided Taddeo as another lawmaker whose efforts are to usher in a "radical agenda" for Florida, but while Rubio is still leading Demings in the polls, Taddeo is now leading Salazar in a race that's expected to be one of the most closely watched races in the midterm elections.
