DeSantis, Florida GOP Register 300K More Voters Than Dems

Share

Florida Republicans are celebrating ahead of the midterm elections, expecting significant wins across the country. With just under 22 days away from the November election, the Florida Republican Party is celebrating having more registered Republicans than Democrats. According to an announcement from the party, Florida will have 300,000 more GOP registered voters than Democrats.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), himself running a reelection campaign, has praised Republican members for the significant increase in registering voters. Given that the Biden administration has taken a hit in terms of its approval rating, issues such as the economy, rising gas prices, and skyrocketing inflation have shifted support towards Republicans.

In response, Democrats have aggressively campaigned, warning that Republicans have grown more extreme. In contrast, Republicans have also directed criticism at Democrats, arguing that the Left-wing sector of the party has now taken control, and political figures like President Barack Obama (D) and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki (D) have urged Democrats to not veer off course in engaging voters.

Taking to social media, the Florida GOP celebrated the increase in voter registration and support while also touting achievements under the leadership of Governor DeSantis.

“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, Florida is solid RED, but we can’t take this for granted!” the Florida GOP said.

Warning that “freedom is fragile,” the group added that “we saw states forcibly shutter places of worship” and calling for Floridians to “get out and vote to protect the Sunshine State from the radical Left.”

DeSantis faces a challenger in Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D), who once served as a Republican Governor, who lost the 2014 gubernatorial race to Florida Senator Rick Scott (R), and who is now vying a second time to attain the top post in Florida.

Crist has embraced the support of President Joe Biden (D), but in a state that decidedly voted for President Donald Trump (R) in the 2020 election, pundits wonder of Crist can accumulate enough support to win him the election in November.
