Our midterm spotlight once again shines on Congressional District 7 and the battle between Cory Mills (R) and Karen Green (D). The latest front in this race concerns Hurricane Ian relief, and how each candidate has aided in recovery efforts. A tweet earlier this October by Green shows her helping fill sandbags, saying that she "pursue federal policies that protect communities from climate disasters here, there & everywhere."

"Long after Hurricane Ian's flood waters reeced, if elected to represent Florida's D7 in Congress, I'll pursue federal policies that protect communities from climate disasters here, there & everywhere. We must boldly meet the challenge of our day," Green's full tweet reads.

Just over a week later, Green calls out Mills for his apparent refusal to debate her, saying that "if he won’t show up to debate the issues affecting D7 & the [world], don’t expect him to show up for you, unless you agree w/ Trump."

"It’s a shame Mr. Mills declined all media invitations to debate me. If he won’t show up to debate the issues affecting D7 & the [world], don’t expect him to show up for you, unless you agree w/ Trump. Why won't he openly dialogue w/ the voters & local TV on various issues?" Green asks in the tweet.

Mills was quick to fire back at the accusation, alleging that Green's aforementioned sandbag-filling was the only real extent of her hurricane recovery efforts. Mills' tweet response depicts numerous instances of him helping distribute food, water, and supplies to Floridians, while saying that "it’s a shame Ms. Green declined to go out and actually help with hurricane recovery efforts outside her 5min photo shoot."

Furthermore, he adds that "if she won’t be there to help the community when we are in need, and only tries cheap political stunts, then expect her to rubber stamp Pelosi/ radical left."

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that District 7 is projected to go to the Trump-backed Mills.
