DeSantis Says Crist 'Unpopular in Florida'

“It’s never been a secret that Charlie Crist is only in politics for himself, not for Floridians like us.

With the midterm election under three weeks away, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' (R) team is preparing for victory. Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) has vowed to unseat DeSantis, but the Governor remains assured that Crist will not win in November given his political record. DeSantis stands firm that despite any support Crist might gain, Crist’s policies are “unpopular in Florida.”

In a message sent to supporters, Governor DeSantis questioned Crist’s intentions in making another run for political office. “It’s never been a secret that Charlie Crist is only in politics for himself, not for Floridians like us,” said the Governor, adding that Crist “hitched his wagon to the D.C. liberal elite and is trying to push their failed agenda on our great state.”

Since announcing his candidacy, the former Governor of Florida has vowed to represent the opposite of DeSantis, calling for Floridians to reject an authoritarian administration. Though DeSantis has largely disregarded Crist as a political threat, Crist reminded voters this week on social media that “Florida is winnable” for Democrats.

Citing that “in 2018, Ron DeSantis won by less than 35,000 votes,” the gubernatorial hopeful said that “this year, we can and we will defeat Ron.”

However, after Crist campaigned with First Lady Jill Biden (D) and Florida Rep. Val Demings (D), DeSantis argues that this only pushes him further away from voters.

“Like the rest of the liberal elite, Charlie Crist thinks Biden is doing a terrific job as president. He has even called himself a ‘Joe Biden Democrat.’ In Congress, Charlie voted with Biden 100% of the time,” expressed DeSantis.

Calling Crist and his donors “far removed from reality,” Governor DeSantis assured voters that Florida will not be on track to become a state like California.

Currently, DeSantis is polling higher than Crist, and President Joe Biden (D) has agreed to campaign for Crist during a November trip to help boost support for Crist.
