With the Defund the Police narrative still looming after the riots that engulfed the Summer of 2020, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R-FL) has since made an effort to protect law enforcement in Florida, and is now running on the issue for her re-election.
AG Moody's team has released a new ad that applauds Moody for, "repeatedly fought back against efforts that would have otherwise undermined brave law enforcement officers and put Floridians in harm’s way." The advertisement will be broadcasted on the majority of Florida's media markets.
The commercial touches on defunding the police, sanctuary cities, the crisis at the border and human trafficking:
"Ashley Moody defends our laws and those who enforce them. So when extremists tried defunding our police, instead of defending our streets, Ashley Moody fought back. When politicians supported sanctuary cities instead of securing our borders, Ashley Moody fought back. When human traffickers poured through open borders and preyed on women and children, Ashley Moody fought back. Ashley Moody, a fighter for Florida."
AG Moody has made a unique part of her administrative efforts and campaign promises about curbing all the baggage that comes with an open border. Just recently Moody announced a fentanyl bust, which led to the arrest of 25 people.
State wide we have seen Moody, and others like Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), successfully utilize national issues at the state level in hopes to getting re-elected and getting jabs in on President Joe Biden (D). With the 2022 election now weeks away, Florida will be a more than usually interesting state to watch this cycle.
