Candidate for Florida House, Allie Braswell (D-FL) is now having an old run-in with controversies that have plagued his previous pursuits of political office. Braswell is now answering to his four previous bankruptcies amid his bid for state House.
Braswell formerly attempted to run for Florida CFO, but was eventually stopped when the Tampa Bay Times published a damning piece about his, "mismanagement," of money. The political hopeful filed for bankruptcy three times between 1995 and 2008. Now Braswell is adding a fourth bankruptcy as of 2015.
However, new issues surround the Democrat nominee for the 45th District. In the 2022 election, Braswell is facing criticism for allegedly being a, "carpetbagger." Yes, Braswell does not live in the District he seeks to represent. Some have also accused him of being a flip flopper. In July of 2008, Braswell switched parties, the reason is still rather unknown.
In order to win, Braswell will have to beat Republican Carolina Amesty (R-45). Amesty has arguably done well pulling together Republican support behind her, making anti-socialism a critical part of her campaign, a popular issue among Florida Republicans.
Amesty is also endorsed by Donald Trump Jr., and has not failed to raise money well into the six figures for her campaign.
