Deutch Details Iran's Hostile Nuclear Intentions

The Biden administration has renewed the controversial Iran nuclear deal. Predictably, the Islamic Republic has nothing but aggressive intentions in its newfound nuclear capabilities.

Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL-22), the Democrat most vocally opposed to the deal, explained the situation in a series of tweets Tuesday evening. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is described by Deutch as being blocked by Iran from monitoring its nuclear developments, and the state is described as possessing enough uranium to build a nuclear weapon.

"Since the IAEA Board of Governors passed its censure resolution criticizing Iran's nuclear behavior in June, Iran has continued to rapidly advance its dangerous nuclear program, inhibit the IAEA's monitoring capabilities, and violate its safeguards obligations," the first tweet says.

Deutch continues, "the IAEA recently said that Iran has enough uranium that, if it were enriched further, could be used to build a nuclear weapon & that there has been no progress in resolving the IAEA's outstanding questions on nuclear material found at old but undeclared nuclear sites in Iran."

Finally, Deutch concludes "moreover, the IAEA said in a recent report that it could not guarantee that Iran’s nuclear program was entirely peaceful. It’s obvious Iran's nuclear program is a clear threat to global security & stability and undermines the international nuclear non-proliferation regime."

Perhaps we should not be surprised. The Islamic Republic has long expressed not-so-subtle desires to possess nuclear weapons, and a third of its populace agree on pursuing it.

In June, as the renewed round of talks between the US, IAEA, and Iran started, Ayatollah Khamenei made two anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist tweets, the second of which said that "Muslim nations oppose the normalization of relations with the Zionists, clench their fists & shout slogans against states seeking normalization. The Zionist regime exploits these states. They don’t realize it, but we hope they realize it before it’s too late."
