On Thursday, The Floridian reported that Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL-19) suggests that the fentanyl crisis is enabled by the southern border crisis. Last night, Donalds took to Fox News' The Record to offer more detail into his assertion. A tweet posted by Donalds Saturday morning contains most of the segment.

"ICYMI: Last night, I joined The Record With Greta Van Susteren to discuss the ongoing fentanyl crisis that Democrats have no problems ignoring. Fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans 18 to 45, and keeping the border open allows this to continue," the tweet reads.
Host Greta van Sustern begins with reports of fentanyl seized over the past week, including colorful pills that resemble candy. Authorities warn this indicates fentanyl dealers and smugglers may begin to target children. Donalds calls this a "tragedy" and "destructive," but more importantly, demonstrates "what the drug cartels will do to earn money in the United States."
Donalds then states that this development in the fentanyl crisis serves as a damning example of "the terrible border policies of Joe Biden and Senate Democrats who refuse to lift a finger to secure our nation." One specific representative he points the finger at is Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), of whom he asks, "what has he done for the citizens of Arizona?"
Van Sustern points out that fentanyl is affecting Americans nationwide, and the drug is manufactured in China, sent to Mexico, and smuggled into the US. Donalds agrees, adding that Mexico serves as a fentanyl refinery, and that trafficking is up one thousand percent since Biden took office.
The question then, Van Sustern asks, is why isn't more being done to contain the scourge of fentanyl? Donalds answers, "because they're committed to an open borders agenda, I don't know why, it's crazy policy, but they're committed to it." He further adds that if these representatives see these deaths but do nothing, they must be complicit.
