DeSantis Team Calls for Voters to 'Reject COVID Theater'

Share

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' (R) team is calling for voters to “reject covid theater,” arguing that Democrats need to “let go of their COVID theatrics.” The comments come after his rivals, Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) have amped up their criticism of the Republican Governor.

Given the recent vote in Kansas, securing the right to abortion in the state, Fried argued that it’s a clear indication that voters want a pro-choice Governor. Fried, in her recent advertisement, affirmed that she is the "only pro-choice Democrat" in the gubernatorial race. Rep. Crist who has been Governor of Florida has also positioned himself as a pro-choice candidate, and DeSantis has asserted himself as the opposite.

DeSantis, who's found himself at odds with Democrats in the state and across the country over COVID protocols, is now warning that Democratic control will only lead to further "COVID theatrics."

"Democrats love the thought of controlling an entire nation of people under the guise of public safety, and they aren’t letting go of it any time soon," DeSantis warned, saying that "Biden just declared at a press conference that 'COVID isn’t gone' as he pushed for more masking across the nation" and that "Fauci is now saying he wishes we did more in terms of lockdowns and mandates surrounding COVID."

"The very same “leaders” on the Left who double mask and quadruple vax are still getting infected with COVID-19, yet they are still relentlessly pushing these mandates on the American people," DeSantis commented, positing that they are doing so for "power" and "virtue signaling."

Instead, the DeSantis team argues that Floridians should vote for DeSantis, noting that he won't let Democrats' "deranged need for power suppress the freedom of Floridians, and that’s why they’re so desperate to get him out.
