Culture war thickens on drag clubs

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has recently criticized drag queen clubs for patronizing children. Now, certain political commentators are starting to think drag clubs are being, "targeted," for their owners' opposition to DeSantis' latest bills, like the Parental Rights in Education bill.

Don Moynihan commented on a recent article from the Miami Herald that featured several drag club owners' opposition to the now infamous Parental Rights in Education bill, and all but said that the club owner's were directly targeted because they opposed Gov. DeSantis's position on Transgender indoctrination of children. Moynihan stated on Twitter, "The owners of a drag club were outspoken critics of new laws; now they are being threatened with the loss of their liquor license and potential closure".

While this has been one of the more interesting theories as to why DeSantis has recently pushed so heavily against children attending drag shows, it is also extremely obvious how this practice is not only pitted so far against the values of the DeSantis Administration.  Not to mention how has become a part of the national culture war, with bills in Texas addressing the same topic.

DeSantis stated at a press conference last week about children attending drag clubs, "Having kids involved in this is wrong.  That is not consistent with our law and policy in the state of Florida, and it is a disturbing trend in our society to try and sexualize these young people,” said Gov. DeSantis at a press conference.  “ That is not the way you look out for our children, you protect children, you do not expose them to things that are inappropriate."

First Lady Casey DeSantis herself has echoed her husband's claims, saying, "Speaking on behalf of A LOT of moms across the state, we do not want our children exposed to inappropriate sexualized content. Full stop."

In fact, some establishments have even proved to be marketing to minors with Sweet 16 deals at said establishments, and providing kid's menus.
