Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced that 20 felons who illegally voted in the 2020 Election have been arrested. As The Floridian covered, Commissioner of Agriculture and rival for Governor Nikki Fried (D) quickly cried "voter suppression."

During the press conference, Attorney General Ashley Moody said that "we must have elected leaders that are ensuring free and fair elections," and that citizens can "have confidence in the election process." She then posted a tweet summarizing her portion of the presser Thursday afternoon. Now her comments have drawn the ire of Rep. Carlos G. Smith (D-FL-49) who took to his own Twitter shortly afterward.

"As leaders, we must ensure free and fair elections. No voting process can stand without the backing and confidence of the people it serves. Thanks to @GovRonDeSantis, we are reinforcing that trust and FL’s system will serve as the standard-bearer for the rest of the nation," Moody says in her tweet.

This prompts Rep. Smith to begin his attack in earnest.

A short, 4-tweet long Twitter thread by Smith mostly contain links to articles describing Moody's previous work in suits related to the 2020 Election and the Rule of Law Defense Fund, which the Tampa Bay Times noted Moody had removed from her biography in the wake of January 6th.

"Florida AG Ashley Moody talking about "free and fair elections" after she tried to overturn the last one is hilarious," Smith's first tweet reads, followed by a second linked to Florida Politics' article describing Moody's filing of a brief in support of Texas' election suit in 2020. "This is actually her," the second tweet with a link simply says.

The third tweet contains the Tampa Bay article, which notes that Moody had actually left Rule of Law Defense Fund a year prior to the events of January 6th.

"This is the same @AshleyMoodyFL," Smith's third tweet simply states.

The fourth and final tweet Smith makes contains a link to the Orlando Sentinel, which viciously condemns Moody for her filing a brief on the Texas 2020 election lawsuit, claiming she had "disgraced herself."

"This is also @AshleyMoodyFL," this final tweet reads.
