Florida Home Builders Association PAC Endorses Simpson

Senate President Wilton Simpson (R) continues to receive support in his bid for Florida Agriculture Commissioner, as the Florida Home Builders Association PAC has just endorsed his campaign,  calling him “a great partner to work alongside.”

This week, Rusty Payton, the Florida Home Builders Association PAC CEO released a statement, endorsing Simpson for Agriculture Commissioner.

“Through his time in the Florida Legislature, and as President of the Florida Senate, Wilton Simpson has fought to ensure that Floridians can pursue the American Dream by working tirelessly to keep housing affordable,” Payton said.

Payton went on to explain that Simpson “has been a great partner to work alongside in the quest to remove unnecessary, burdensome regulations that impede the success of Florida’s many local business owners," adding that the Florida Republican "has demonstrated time and time again that he will work arduously as Agriculture Commissioner to balance the needs of development and agriculture to protect Floridians and ensure our state is the best place to live and work in the country.”

Nikki Fried (D), the sole statewide elected Democrat is vying for the gubernatorial position, and Simpson is expected to decidedly win the nomination in the August 23rd primary election to replace Fried. His primary challenger is James Shaw, but Simpson has received endorsements from a number of high-profile political figures and organizations, including President Donald Trump (R) and the National Rifle Association (NRA).

For Democrats, Ryan Morales, J.R. Gaillot, and Naomi Blemur are all vying for the nomination in August.

Fried, who's been critical of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has been actively campaigning against DeSantis and the GOP. However, she has not endorsed any of the Democratic candidates that could potentially replace her in the Governor's Cabinet.

In contrast, Governor DeSantis endorsed Simpson in late April, arguing that Simpson "has helped pass major reform for election integrity, choice in education, big tech censorship and law enforcement recruitment."
