Police Benevolent Association Endorses Elizabeth Fetterhoff in HD 29

The already heated state house race in Florida’s 29th District between Reps. Elizabeth Fetterhoff and Webster Barnaby have just got that much hotter with the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) having endorsed Rep. Fetterhoff over Rep. Barnaby.

Earlier this month, The Floridian reported that Rep. Barnaby announced that he had received the endorsement of the PBA at the Volusia Republican Executive Committee meeting on Daytona Beach.

After a video posted of Barnaby claiming to have received the PBA’s support, the police union responded to our request for comment, saying that they had not endorsed in that race yet.

“We have not issued an endorsement in that race. Representative Barnaby must have made a mistake,” stated the PBA’s Mike Scudiero.

Fetterhoff took issue with Barnaby ‘s claim, calling it “disingenuous” and calling into question his integrity.

“Integrity is one of the most important things to bring to an elected office, so if you are not able to have that integrity, you shouldn’t be in office,” added Fetterhoff.

Now, the largest police union in the state has made its decision on whom to endorse.

According to the PBA’s endorsement letter to Fetterhoff, the group asserts that they were backing Fetterhoff because she “demonstrates a strong commitment to the men and women of law enforcement.”

"We are proud to endorse Elizabeth Fetterhoff for Florida House of Representatives District 29. She demonstrates a strong commitment to the men and women of law enforcement, corrections, and probation. We know she has our back,” stated John Kazanjian, president of the PBA.

Fetterhoff recently release a video endorsement from Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

I am proud to have received the PBA endorsement,” said Fetterhoff. “Their support recognizes my support of law enforcement throughout Florida.
