Pelosi Refuses to Condemn Attacks on Pro-Life Institutions

On Wednesday, June 15^th, Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) and over 100 other House Republicans sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland asking him to investigate the 14 recent attacks on pro-life institutions after the leaked Roe v. Wade decision. Within the letter, they stated that the Department of Justice is inclined to “pursue these recent attacks as instances of domestic terrorism, and it is the responsibility of the National Security Division to protect the United States from threats to our national security by seeking justice through law.”

A day after that letter was sent, a reporter pressed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) about her and the Democratic Party’s silence after these attacks, and that their rhetoric (or lack thereof) could be constituted as contributing to the civil unrest from pro-choice groups.

“Well, let me just say this. A woman has a right to choose to live up to her responsibility. It’s up to her. Her doctor, her family, her husband, her significant other, and her God. This talk of politicizing all of this I think it’s something uniquely American and not right," said Pelosi. She would go on to state,  “I’m a very Catholic person, and I believe in every woman’s right to make her own decisions. And any other questions on another subject because I’m not going to be talking about that anymore.”

One of the attacks mentioned in the letter by the House Republicans included a threat spray painted on a wall stating, “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either.”

Speaker Pelosi made headlines in late May when the San Francisco Catholic archbishop in her district stated that he was going to deny her Holy Communion because of her pro-abortion stance.

“After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, and the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”
