Taddeo Corrects Spanish Message Russell Sent

Share

Now that Florida state Senator Annette Taddeo (D) has entered the Democratic primary race for Florida’s 27th district has escalated. Shortly after dropping his bid for the U.S. Senate, Commissioner Ken Russell (D) entered the race, leaving Florida Rep. Val Demings (D) as the lone challenger against Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R). Republicans are expected to usher in a “red wave” in the upcoming election, but Democrats like Taddeo are hopeful that they can flip Rep. Salazar’s district blue.

Politicians have been courting the Hispanic vote leading up to the 2022 midterm election. After news spread that Texas’ Mayra Flores (R) had managed to capture the support of Texas’ 34th district given its 84% Hispanic majority and its long-held support for Democrats, political pundits further argued that Republicans are heading into the midterm election with an even bigger advantage than expected

However, Florida’s 27th congressional district has a history of Republican support, but Democratic lawmakers argue that the district can be turned blue, and they’re each vying to be the candidate that will do so.

Senator Taddeo took to social media this week to criticize a message released in Spanish from Russell’s campaign.

The message, directing criticism at Rep. Elvira Salazar, was posted on Taddeo’s Twitter page with accompanying Spanish corrections.

“Hey Ken for Florida, fixed this for you,” Taddeo shared in both English and Spanish, adding, “I know a good translator if you need one.”

Salazar recently championed Flores’ win in Texas, signaling that voters will elect Republicans across the country.

In her message of celebration, Elvira Salazar affirmed that she is looking forward “to working together in Congress to protect liberty and fight against socialism!”

Since changing course to a congressional bid, Senator Taddeo has repeatedly expressed that her candidacy is strong enough to change the district blue given that she was elected in a traditionally red district.
