State Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book (D) is a rising star and is considered the future of the Florida Democratic Party. Leader Book's endorsement in any Democratic primary race is highly sought after, and it now appears as if Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep, Charlie Crist is in line to garner Leader Book's endorsement in that hotly contested gubernatorial primary race.
During a pro-Choice rally in Fort Lauderdale following the Supreme Court's overturning of the landmark Roe vs. Wade decision, Book stood and posed for a picture with several Charlie Crist for Governor campaign staffers holding campaign signs.
Moments after the picture was taken, we asked Book if she would be endorsing Rep. Crist over Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.
"I haven't endorsed yet," said Book, but then added that she would "probably" be endorsing Crist.
If Book, who is running for reelection to the Senate, backs Crist, the endorsement would be arguably the most significant Democratic endorsement in the race. The latest public opinion poll shows Crist leading Fried but less than 3 months before the primary election, polls are expected to tighten.
State Senators Shevrin Jones, Lori Berman, and Tina Polsky, have also endorsed Crist.
