Dr. Erick Aguilar (R-FL), who is running for Florida's Fourth Congressional District, has just been endorsed by the Disabled Veterans PAC in his bid for Congress.
Disabled Veterans PAC is a federal political action committee founded and led by disabled veterans on a mission to assist disabled veterans holding or running for an elected office. They also support candidates who pledge to advocate and legislate for core disabled veteran issues such as quality healthcare, mental health and suicide prevention, VA disability compensation, suitable housing, and proper financial, educational, and burial benefits.
"As a 20-year Navy Veteran, Erick understands the issues facing our men and women coming home from arduous deployments" said Kate Monroe, Disabled Veterans Executive Director. "Erick will be a staunch advocate for our veterans and their families. He’ll see to it that they are not forgotten about and receive the necessary resources needed to transition back into everyday life."
Aguilar responded to the endorsement he was seemingly proud to receive, "I am extremely honored to receive the endorsement from the Disabled Veterans PAC. This organization works tirelessly for our men and women in uniform who bare both physical, emotional, and mental scars from the combat they experienced abroad. While it is important to support our troops while they are overseas, it is imperative that we continue to support them and their families once they come home. Access to quality healthcare, suicide prevention, and employment/ educational opportunities are all important priorities to advocate for as they make that transition back into normal society."
Erick Aguilar has also been endorsed by groups like Veterans for America First. Although, his campaign may not go as smoothly as he has anticipated.
While the congressional hopeful has raised a considerable amount of money (over 7 figures), State Senator Aaron Bean (R-FL) has just announced he plans to run for the US House, more specifically, in Aguilar's district. State Rep. Jason Fischer is also in the race.
While Aguilar's selling point is his status as a political outsider, the Republican primary should get interesting with seasoned Senator Bean now in the mix.
