Miami-Dade GOP Chair Rene Garcia Denounces Proud Boys Accusations

The Proud Boys, who have largely been blamed for taking part in extremist demonstrations around the nation, particularly the January 6th Capitol Riot,  have voiced their ambition to take over local Republican groups around the country.  Now, Miami-Dade GOP Chair Rene Garcia (R-FL) has officially denounced accusations that the group has a stronghold in the Miami-Dade GOP.

Garcia appeared on WPLG Local 10 News "This Week" where it was reported that six to seven current or former members of the Proud Boys are on the Miami-Dade Republican Executive Committee.  The story was broken on the front page of the New York Times, which shook up South Florida politics.

After being asked if the individuals in question were members of the committee under the approval of the Chair, Garcia responded, "The reality is that the headline that the New York Times posted on the front page is completely a lie. "

"Right now when we look at the Miami-Dade GOP, we have the most diverse group, most diverse GOP in the state.  Maybe the most diverse group in the nation," said Garcia, adding, "Right now we look at that article, right now yes, I'll tell you I think out of the five, I would say there is two voting members and there is three alternates that were elected to the Miami-Dade GOP, but that is not reflective of the principles of the Miami-Dade GOP. "

Chairman Garcia further claims that the Miami-Dade Republican Party stands for, "inclusion, diverse ideas, and lazer focused on getting Republicans elected at the local levels."  Garcia further described the incident as a, "lie," from Democrats, and accused them of, "trying to target the most diverse Republican party in the nation as a group of racists, because they know they're losing in the realm of public opinion."

The Proud Boys group has been under fire in recent headlines as the January 6th Committee hearings proceed on Capitol Hill.  Mainstream media and Liberal lawmakers have credited them with a significant portion of the damages caused by the riot in Washington D.C. on January 6th, 2021.
