Charlie Crist Will Bring Back Mask Mandates

It has been almost a full year since the state of Florida canned COVID-19 mandates under the DeSantis Administration.  Now, gubernatorial candidate, US Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) promised to bring back mask mandates if he is elected and the COVID-19 situation worsens.

One year ago today, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) lifted all local COVID-19 mandates with the help of the Florida legislature.  Back then, the governor described these mandates as, "Anti-Science," but now Crist is claiming mandates could come back because he will, "be open to doing what scientists advise — not political scientists."

"Yes. I just read an article this morning. I'm glad you brought it up. So I'm going to the airport right after this. I’m going to Orlando, and I'm going to wear a mask on the plane."  Crist elaborated, "You don't have to anymore, but I'm going to because Florida is experiencing an uptick that began this week. And it's not even the Omicron B2. It’s a new variant."

The Republican Governor's Association fired back at the former governor who hopes to take back the office.  RGA spokeswoman Joanna Rodriguez stated, "Charlie Crist has consistently expressed his desire to implement draconian mandates on the state since the start of his campaign,"  Rodriguez added, "If elected, Charlie Crist would be just another 'rules for thee, not for me' Democrat hypocrite. He already is, claiming COVID prevents him from showing up for his taxpayer-funded job in Washington while running around maskless to campaign in Florida."

DeSantis and Florida Republicans have exalted Florida as the freest state in the union.
