After dressing down her Democratic Party for abandoning “moderate” lawmakers like herself, subsequently pushing her out of office, Rep. Stephanie Murphy recently appears on Showtime’s “The Circus” to opine on the state of the House of Representatives, while accusing House Republicans of “dismantling Democracy” and House Progressives of trying to “dismantle Capitalism.”
“I don't want to hand this country over to a party that has become more of a cult of personality and is focused on dismantling democracy, but I also don't want to hand my party over to the faction that is trying to dismantle capitalism,” said Rep. Murphy.
Prior to Murphy making her accusations against Republicans and Progressive Democrats, the Blue Dog Democrat said that the Democratic party had “set expectations that were incongruent with the majorities that we held.”
“We often set expectations that were incongruent with the majorities that we held, and it by saying we can pass both infrastructure and a multitrillion-dollar bill back better build,” added Murphy.
Murphy’s “Blue Dog” credentials have been called into question after it was learned that she voted 92% of the time with Progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and with Speaker Nancy Pelosi 96% of the time.
While Democrats are having a tough time fielding someone to replace Murphy and other retiring Democratic members of Congress around the country, Republicans have an abundance of candidates vying to become part of the expected “Red Wave.”
Combat Veteran Cory Mills, Navy SEAL Brady Duke, DeBary Vice Mayor Erika Benfield, D.C. Insider Rusty Roberts, Rep. Anthony Sabatini, and Businessman Scott Sturgill, are all Republicans running to replace Murphy in the 2022 midterm elections.
