Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) called on President Joe Biden (D) to “Unleash American energy today!” This comes after the President used emergency war powers to increase the production of batteries for electric cars. In the past, DeSantis has taken multiple jabs towards the president about natural resources. Specifically, going to leaders of socialist and terror-sponsoring countries (Venezuela and Iran, respectively), for oil.

The Governor of Florida said in a tweet:

“After begging for oil from dictators, Biden is now using emergency war powers to produce batteries for the 1% that drive electric cars. Most Americans suffering due to high gas prices don’t have the luxury of spending $50k+ on an electric car. Unleash American energy today!”

The last part of the tweet is in reference to the Biden administration's stances on oil. So far, it has been reluctant to allow U.S. oil companies to drill for natural resources on federal land, according to Gov. DeSantis.

Other Florida politicians such as Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) and Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL), have accused U.S. oil companies of wrongdoing in their own right.

In the middle of March, Rep. Demings accused the U.S. companies of exporting gas that “could be used here” despite supporting the Biden administration’s reluctance to participate in drilling projects such as the Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

On March 19th, Soto claimed that “oil companies are taking advantage of Americans back home.”

Neither of them have shown any sign of support for opening up new exploration for the American energy sector during the current gas price hike.
