Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis all but assured viewers that he has not taken the COVID-19 vaccine booster and predicted that the overall definition for vaccination would become fluid.
When Bartiromo asked Gov. DeSantis if he had taken the booster shot, Gov. DeSantis shook his head and said,” I did the normal shot, and that at the end of the day is people’s individual decisions about what they want to do.”
Gov. DeSantis quickly added that he and his administration knew that how vaccinations were defined would become a “shifting target,” adding that he had predicted this over a month ago.
“One of the reasons why we took those steps was because we knew the definition of vaccination would be a shifting target, and I predicted this a month and a half ago. People said that I was wrong and now we are seeing it come to fruition,” said DeSantis. So, there’s going to be people who have done two Pfizer shots who are not doing booster, and they can be considered in certain parts of the country to be unvaccinated and denied the ability to participate in society.”
DeSantis also discussed the recent Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus, saying that while the variant has been detected in Florida, it hasn’t “produced the same level of hospitalizations as the Delta variant.”
In addition, DeSantis, who wished that COVID-19 treatments would receive more media attention than the hospitalization rate, said that because of how he has handled the pandemic and how he has stood up against the mandates that have come down from the federal government, namely the Biden administration, that he believes Floridians know that the state will not allow for the state to be locked down.
“Floridians know that we will not let anyone lock them down. We will not let anyone take their jobs. We will not let anyone ruin their businesses, and we will not let anyone close their schools. People are going to be able to live life, they are going to be able to make their own decisions,” stated DeSantis.
