DeSantis: Biden 'Continues to Lie' About Southern Border

Share

Governor Ron DeSantis (R) addressed further concerns at the border this weekend by placing blame on the Biden Administration. Citing astronomical drug overdoses and rising crime rates as indicators of the need to address illegal immigration, DeSantis lamented that the President “continues to lie to the American people about the crisis at the southern border.”

The feud between DeSantis and the Biden Administration has not calmed down, and recent comments from the Sunshine State Governor are questioning President Biden’s leadership when it comes to immigration concerns.

“Since Biden and Kamala Harris took office, America’s southern border has been an unmitigated disaster: Crime, drugs, and human trafficking are pouring over our border every single day,” said DeSantis in a message sent to supporters.

DeSantis argued that “the issues on our southern border are the intended results of policies rooted in globalist ideology,” adding that “the Biden administration doesn’t want a secure border.”

GOP members have long accused Democrats of supporting “open border” policies, but criticism at the Biden Administration hasn’t only been directed by Republicans. Voters have also shared their disapproval after the Biden Administration announced it would be resuming the building of a border wall. However, GOP lawmakers question the Administration’s efforts, saying that it’s not enough.

“More than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses this year – but Biden and Harris seem content to sit back and leave everyday Americans to fend for themselves,” argued DeSantis, adding that “Harris, the border czar, refuses to do even a single thing to curb the cascade of unvetted people flowing into our country.”

In making a distinction between himself and Biden, DeSantis affirmed that “if the federal government won’t do its part to keep people safe, then states like Florida need to step up to fill the void.”

As a result, DeSantis confirmed that he would be “proposing major initiatives in the upcoming legislative session to deal with the surge of illegal migrants being shipped into Florida in the dead of night.”
