Esteban bovo
Former Commissioner Esteban Bovo has won the Hialeah mayoral election. Mayor Carlos Hernandez, the outgoing Mayor, was term-limited. After squaring off against Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levin Cava during the 2020 presidential election, Bovo shifted his sights to the political landscape of Hialeah, his hometown.
In early October, President Donald Trump (R) endorsed Bovo, arguing that he was a political candidate that was challenging the "status quo." President Trump added that “Steve will stand up to the far-left agenda that looks to change America.”
On Election Day, Bovo emerged as the winner by garnering 59% of the vote when all precincts were counted. The closest challenger was Isis Garcia-Martinez, who garnered 21.5% of the vote.
In speaking to supporters after winning the election, Bovo affirmed that "as mayor, I'm going to work as much as I can to make sure that the American dream that many have sought to find in the city of Hialeah is a reality."
Bovo is scheduled to be sworn in as Mayor on Friday.
